After 15 years as a derivatives and bond trader, Dean Carlson decided it was time to get a real job. He found a 350-acre farm in northern Chester County that was in foreclosure after being slated for development. Dean bought the farm in 2010 and spent two full years doing extensive renovations to the buildings and land. In 2012, the market and café at Wyebrook Farm opened to the public. The growth of the restaurant since then led to an amazing cookbook, Field and Feast in 2016!
Ian Knauer founded The Farm Cooking School as a space where cooks of all levels can come together to learn and enjoy great food and community.
Ian honed his cooking skills in the world-renowned test kitchens of Gourmet Magazine for almost a decade before returning to his family’s farm in Pennsylvania where he wrote a cookbook The Farm: Rustic Recipes for a Year of Incredible Food and a television show, also called The Farm, which airs on PBS and Hulu.
After over a year of searching for the perfect location, he found Tullamore Farms, a working cattle and lamb farm in Stockton, NJ. The Farm Cooking School sources much of the ingredients directly from the farm and other near-by farms.
Together, Dean and Ian will be debuting a few recipes from their new cookbook, “Field and Feast: Sublime Food From A Brave New Farm”.
Come enjoy a demo, taste a few delicious samples, and a new signed cookbook!
